THE QUIRAING

The Quiraing is known to be a geological formation of volcanic origin, born from a landslide on the Trotternish, a peninsula of the Isle of Skye. He is still moving today!

In this article I will tell you about Quiraing, which is one of my favorite places on the Isle of Skye in Scotland. Less than 15 minutes from the main road, the view from Trotternish Ridge offers a magnificent view of the mountains and rock formations.

In addition to the beautiful scenery offered by the road of Quiraing, you have the opportunity to hike in the hollow of the mountains .. If you have the time, I strongly recommend the loop of Quiraing which is a superb hike. It takes you near pinnacles, plateaus with views of the landslide. To do it you have to walk 7km which takes about 3 hours. This hike is indicated as difficult because of technical parts. However, do not do it if there is a lot of wind or little visibility as this could be dangerous.

Portree is often the starting point or place of accommodation for visitors to the Isle of Skye. To get to Quiraing from Portree it takes you through the town of Staffin and a road on your left will be indicated to get there. This road goes up to a parking lot, it takes 8 to 10 minutes in time. Be careful because this road is very narrow and only one car at a time can pass. However be vigilant, it happens in winter that the road is closed ...

Good road !
